History

I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. In 2003 I began studying Math & Education at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Three years into my Degree, I decided to move to California to live in sunshine, and to pursue a professional Bachelor’s of Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles.

It was here that I began to learn fabrication. After taking a chair design class, I learned to weld steel and began experimenting with repurposing and upcycling used materials.

Once I stepped foot in a shop, I knew I never wanted to leave.

Immediately after completing my Bachelor’s Degree, I opened my own fabrication shop in Los Angeles and developed a line of upcycled furniture products. During this year, I also collaborated with several artists on large scale installation projects. I was also an apprentice at the Villarreal Design & Fabrication Shop, which specialized in creating high end custom furniture, where I broadened my knowledge of woodworking, metal work, and finishing.

I then spent a year in Italy earning a Master’s Degree in Furniture Design at the Florence International Design Institute. Here I was fortunate to study furniture design under internationally renowned designers. I had a table design chosen to be fabricated and entered in the Salone del Mobile Furniture Fair in Milan.

Philosophy

I am dedicated to creating smart and sustainable design. Over the years, I have been developing my design process. I work with materials, and extract inspiration and understanding by working with my hands. My passion lies in design and fabrication. My designs are inspired by geometry, simplicity, the human body, systems in nature, and the universe.

For me, the design process is closely related to personal growth.

Please enjoy the work.
